In the Spring of 2005, Gordon and Lesley Hart suffered the unimaginable loss of their third daughter, Alex. In the exquisite fineness of the line between life and death, Alex touched her parent’s hearts everlastingly and inspired a wonderful gift.
The Hart Family is making a lasting difference at Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario through the creation of the Alex’s Butterfly Garden… a haven of healing, respite and reflection. In addition to reclaiming valuable green space, the fully accessible garden will allow the peace and beauty of natural surroundings to soothe and heal individuals in times of difficulty.
The Hart Family, in partnership with the Children’s Health Foundation look forward to providing patients and families, visitors and guests, and those who work so tirelessly at Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario and London Health Sciences Centre, a place for quiet reflection in which they can enjoy nature’s beauty and strength.
With strength comes healing.
Bringing the Alex’s Butterfly Garden to life will require a commitment of over $100 000. We hope that you will consider being part of creating this garden in whatever way is possible for you. We have many exciting fundraising events in the works and look forward to sharing the details of them with you over the coming months.
It is said that “those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts”. We know Alex’s Butterfly Garden will help heal and give new life to the many individuals who make up the extended family at Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario and London Health Sciences Centre. |
