A team of enthusiastic grade seven students lead by Sierra Harkins, are inspired to help the community in a meaningful way.
Sierra joined forces with her classmates to organize and run a raffle.
Prizes included premium London Knights tickets and autographed programs, goody baskets and a board game. By staggering the raffle draws over several days Sierra was able to build excitement and enthusiasm for the prizes and cause, thus selling more tickets. It should also be mentioned that some of the students, including Sierra contributed some of their own money to boost the prize pool. The grand total raised from the raffles was $170.
Well done!!
A special thanks to Mr. Sturgis' grade seven class, to all of the Emily Carr Public School Students how purchased tickets and a very big thank you to Sierra Harkins for this very thoughtful gesture and for you hard work in coordinating the raffle. |

On TUESDAY, MAY 8, 2007, 100% of all food and beverage sales generated from the Jeffery Restaurant Group restaurants (Kelsey’s, TJ Baxter’s, Oscar Taylor’s and Rockwater Brew & BBQ and the Barking Frog) was donated to five (5) local charities. Perry Jeffery and Bob DiFrusica created CHARITY DAY 2007 as a way of thanking the London community for their continued patronage by donating to local health, children and family charities.
Children's Health Foundation in support of Alex’s Butterfly Garden was the grateful recipient of the proceeds from TJ Baxter's. With the weather on our side, the day was a spectacular success, filled with plenty of sunshine, enthusiastic volunteers, and lots of wonderful food. We are proud to announce that on Monday, May 15th, 2006 Perry Jeffery presented us with a cheque for nearly $16 000. The Jeffrey Group’s total charitable giving’s from all five of his participating restaurants was more than $51 000.
A very big thank you to you, our friends and colleagues, for supporting this fun day. A huge thank you also goes to Perry and his team for this generous donation and for their gift of time and enthusiasm for our cause. I hope you’ll remember The Jeffery Group of restaurants when you head out for your next bite. His kindness deserves reward.
Again, our most sincere thanks for being part of bringing Alex’s Butterfly Garden to life! |

With initial assistance from Michael Pasco, and carried forward by the very enthusiastic Jay Murray, of Tender Lawn Care, Alex’s Butterfly Garden is thrilled to announce a partnership between Alex’s Butterfly Garden and the Southwestern Ontario Chapter of Landscape Ontario. The garden will benefit from the experience and expertise of the extended membership of LO, as well as more directly from both capital and ‘gift-in-kind” donations.
Thank you to Michael Pasco for initial introductions, the Landscape Ontario Board of Directors, and to our chief LO Cheerleader, Jay Murray. |

On December 15th, 2006, the London TechAlliance held their annual Holiday Mixer with Alex’s Butterfly Garden as their guest of honor. The snowy weather didn’t keep away over 150 TechAlliance members who help to raise over $3,000 for the garden’s capital build project. It is our hope that the partnership forged between ABG and the London TechAlliance will serve as inspiration for new relationships between it’s member and other needy community projects. Many thanks to Marilyn Sinclair, president of the London TechAlliance and to all who joined us for a wonderful holiday evening.
Your support is sincerely appreciated. |

Each year from mid-September through early November, millions of butterflies make a two-month long journey from Canada to their warmer winter homes in California and Mexico. The annual spectacle of southbound swarms of orange and black speckled monarchs inspires festivals and butterfly tagging events across the continent.
Butterfly Days® at Greenway Blooming Centre® and The Naturium® is one such event. Every fall, Greenway owners Kees and Sabina Kennema release more than 1000 monarch as part of Monarch Watch, a migration and tagging research program based at the University of Kansas. The public can buy, tag and set free monarchs raised at the center by the Kennema's son and Naturium Manager, Marco.
ABG is please to announce that Greenway selected ABG as it's benefactor for Butterfly Days Fall 2006. We gratefully receive a donation in the amount of $2547.50. That's a lot of beautiful butterflies! A very big thanks you to Greenway Bloom Centre and the Kennema Family.
As Canada's largest Butterfly & Hummingbird Discovery Centre, The Naturium®is a unique educational experience offering informative displays, seminars, gift shop and is also home to a collection of more than 20,000 butterfly specimens amassed by John Powers, a retired policeman and passionate lepidopterist known locally as the Butterfly Man.
